The story behind it:
They arrived in 1510 and remained until 1962, becoming the last colonial rulers to leave the Indian subcontinent. We are talking about the small country on the southwestern edge of Europe, which, with 1 million inhabitants, built a large overseas empire from southern India. Portugal.
After Vasco da Gama had discovered the sea route to India, the Portuguese could develop “in peace” (thanks to a contract with Spain) the region and open up a lucrative trade route for the coveted “noble four spices” pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. In addition, they came into contact with the tea nations China and Japan, thereby laying the foundation for the European tea trade.
So it should have been a Portuguese princess who introduced the tea in the UK.
